National Train Control Centre (NTCC) in the Heuston Station, Dublin, Ireland.
RDI in cooperation with INDRA SISTEMAS, a Spanish multinational company in the information and communication technologies sector, has developed and instaled the project "National Train Control Centre (NTCC)". Conolly Station, which has managed train control by and large for the last 40 years on the Irish railway network, has reached its capacity and has been remodeled and moved major part of its activity to a new site at Heuston Station, the National Train Control Centre (NTCC).
Roomdimensions, a leading company in the creation of control centres for the railway sector, has carried out the implementation of all the technical furniture for the multiple operational areas of the control centre.

The National Train Control Centre (NTCC) will be Iarnród Éireann’s centre for the management and regulation of train movements on the Iarnród Éireann network. The centre will also provide real-time customer information at stations, on website and social media platforms. The existing Iarnród Éireann central train control centre is due for replacement due to capacity constraints with the existing IT systems nearing life expiration.
The modern replacement National Train Control Centre enables the integration of signalling and communications control across the entire Iarnród Éireann network, making rail traffic management more efficient.
The facility will comprise of a 5,500m2 building constructed over 5 floors over basement. The basement level will serve as staff welfare area, locker rooms and first aid room while the upper floors will accommodate signalling and control rooms, office space, meeting rooms, staff facilities and also include secure areas to house plant and equipment areas.

The project is based on a new concept of control room environment, where the consoles are adapted to INDRA's technology used in the railway market, offering a totally new, unique, high-quality solution with perfect ergonomics for the operator.

The scope of the project includes:
-Signaling Control Room:
10x i-Console for signallers
2x i-Console for ECO
2x i-Console for supervisors
2x LAN level crossing
2x AV totems for 3x1 55" monitors

The main solution deployed for the management and organization of the 24x7 environment was the i-Console, a custom-made technical workpost, designed especially for INDRA, combining a high-level design with the most advanced technological features in what regards cable management, connectivity and location of the computer equipment.
The i-Console is a new concept of technical furniture for the organization of control centers or 24x7 operating environments. Highly technological and with an entirely new aesthetic design, the I- Console aims at becoming a benchmark for the organization of technical work environments, differing completely from the traditional concept of control console or technical work environments, and moreover, situates itself as a technological reference that perfectly combines the functionality required in a workstation of high performance, with the beauty and design of a product intended for environments of high added value.
The importance of a correct implementation in the creation of specific control centers for the railway sector increases operational efficiency.
