Case studies
Etisalat is one of the leading international telecommunications operators, with critical infrastructure that requires constant monitoring.
In this context, the Network Operations Center (NOC) project is conceived as a strategic space to ensure service continuity, immediate incident response, and operational efficiency in environments that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The main objective of the project is to create a control center capable of:
• Operating continuously with high standards of ergonomics and comfort
• Integrating large volumes of technology with efficient cabling management
• Facilitating real-time collaboration among operators
• Ensuring scalability and flexibility for future expansions
• Maintain a corporate aesthetic aligned with the brand
The design adapts to a highly technical environment without compromising visual clarity or accessibility to equipment. The result is a control center that combines functionality, ergonomics, and design, offering an efficient and orderly work environment, increased operator productivity, reduced incident response times, and a high capacity to adapt to future technological needs.
RDI’s proposal is based on the implementation of advanced operator consoles, specifically the Lite EVO series, configured for 3 or 4 operators depending on the functional requirements of each area.
Console Architecture
The system is based on a modular structure that integrates:
• U-shaped functional arch
• Central structure that channels all cabling and allows for the integration of 19" rack-mount equipment. This solution ensures organization, accessibility, and efficient maintenance.
• Adaptable structural base (SAF)
• A key element that connects the functional arch to the work surface and accommodates the lifting systems and auxiliary electronics.
• Monitor rail system
• Allows the screen position to be adjusted to optimize ergonomics and adapt to each operator.
• Durable HPL work surfaces with integrated connectivity points, wireless charging, and decorative LED lighting.
• Individual electronic compartments
Each operator has a dedicated space for their equipment, with full access for maintenance and cable management.
Ergonomics and User Experience
The project places special emphasis on operator well-being, a critical factor in continuous-operation work environments.
• Configurations tailored for multiple operators (3 and 4 per console)
• Integrated, customizable connectivity (power, USB, RJ45, and wireless charging)
• Integrated lighting to reduce eye strain
• High-performance CXO ergonomic seating with advanced lumbar support and multiple adjustments to ensure comfort during long shifts
Technology and Integration
The NOC design allows for full integration of technological systems:
• Infrastructure ready for 19" rack-mounted equipment
• Intelligent cable routing from the floor to each workstation
• Easy access for maintenance thanks to magnetic panels and modular compartments
• Prepared for lifting systems and future adaptations
ETISALAT’s NOC project exemplifies how the design of a control center goes far beyond the mere layout of equipment. It is a comprehensive solution where engineering, ergonomics, and technological architecture converge to meet the demands of critical environments that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
