A 360º approach to a mission-critical control room

For the Ministry of Defense of Uganda, Roomdimensions developed a comprehensive control room concept combining technical furniture, audiovisual technology (4YC), ergonomics and room design within a single environment.

The control room accommodates 12 operators across three rows, with the workspace, sightlines and technology planned as part of a unified solution.

A complete control room solution

The heart of the room is a configuration of six T-LINE double consoles, designed for two operators each. A key aspect of the design is the management of the technical infrastructure behind the furniture.

The T-LINE consoles incorporate internal equipment spaces, movable trays, dedicated routes for cables and front and rear access to the console structure to facilitate installation and maintenance. This approach keeps the operational environment visually clean while maintaining access to the technology supporting the control room.

The project also incorporates a 4YC audiovisual architecture, connecting the operator workstations with the room's shared visual resources. The proposed architecture includes operator PCs, dual displays, encoders, network infrastructure and virtual sources.

A large-format LED videowall is seamlessly integrated into a dedicated architectural structure, combining display technology with technical infrastructure, with HPL panels and integrated lighting.

Ergonomics is incorporated from the planning stage, with detailed analysis of operator sightlines and viewing angles across the three rows to the main display.

A Smart Podium complements the room, providing an integrated monitor, equipment space, connectivity and concealed cable routing for presentation and operational tasks.
